10,468 commercial plots owned by Bahria Town Karachi have been ordered to be frozen by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Following an inquiry that revealed substantial evidence of corruption, Javed Akbar Riaz, the Director-General (DG) of NAB Karachi, issued these directives.
The NAB claims that the inquiry found extensive corruption committed by Bahria Town, its owner, Malik Riaz, and his colleagues, Ahmad Ali Riaz, Zain Malik, Shahid Qureshi, Faisal Qureshi, Mohammad Awais, Wasim Rifat, and Waqas Rifat.
According to the investigation, these people had participated in unlawful land acquisition and distribution operations.
Furthermore, it was discovered during the NAB’s investigation that Malik Riaz and his colleagues had unlawfully purchased more than 16,000 acres of property in Malir through conspiracy.
The investigation’s scope was expanded when the bureau claimed that the Malir Development Authority (MDA) had illegally granted this land.
All commercial plots owned by Bahria Town have been blocked, and no future transfers or allocations will be permitted, according to the NAB Sindh office.
Furthermore, NAB took its most recent proceedings after gathering further proof to back up allegations of Bahria Town’s continued land expansion beyond the originally allotted plots.
