Pollution

Due to air pollution, more than 250 schools in Bangkok have closed.

Bangkok: Authorities claimed that more than 250 schools in Bangkok were closed Thursday, January 23, because of pollution. They also asked individuals to work from home and banned large cars from the city.

Like many other nations in the region, Thailand has long suffered from seasonal air pollution, which is caused by a combination of automobile emissions, smoke from burning agricultural stubble, and colder, stagnant winter air.
According to IQAir, the Thai capital was the sixth most polluted major city globally on Thursday morning.

The concentration of PM2.5 pollutants, which are tiny enough to enter the bloodstream through the lungs and cause cancer, reached 122 micrograms per cubic meter.

For the majority of the year, the World Health Organization advises that 24-hour average exposures shouldn’t exceed 15.
