DUBAI (Pasar) – Pakistan won the Under-19 Asia Cup on Sunday, defeating India by 191 runs.
Pakistan set a difficult 348-run total for India in the Under-19 Asia Cup final, based on Sameer Minhas’ 172 here on Sunday.
Chasing a difficult mark, India bowled out for 156 runs.
Dipesh Devindran scored the most runs for India, with 36, followed by Surya Vanshi with 26, Arun Patel with 19, and Arun George with 16 before being removed. Kanshak Chauhan and Vedant Chauhan were visitors at the crease, scoring nine runs apiece.
Pakistan’s Ali Raza took four wickets, while Muhammad Siyam, Abdul Subhan, and Huzayfa Ahsan each took two.
Earlier, after India won the toss, Pakistan batted and scored 347 runs for the cost of eight wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
Minhas delivered a scorching innings, hitting 17 fours and nine sixes. He completed his century with 71 balls. He is the tournament’s highest scorer.
Ahmed Hussain scored 56, Usman Khan 35, skipper Farhan Yousuf 19, and Hamza Zahoor 18. Muhammad Sayyam scored 13 runs, while Niqab Shafiq was unbeaten on 12.
Dipesh Devendran took three wickets for India, while Khelan Patel and Hanil Patel each claimed two.
Pakistan captain Farhan Yousuf stated after the toss that the Green Shirts will approach the field fully prepared to capture the trophy.
“The team’s morale is high and the players are determined to perform well in the final,” the captain stated.
The young Pakistani cricketers have performed admirably in the event. In the semi-finals, they beat Bangladesh by eight wickets.
India beat Sri Lanka in the other semifinal.
Pakistan has placed its hopes in batsman Sameer Minhas, who has 299 runs in four matches, including a century and a half-century.
Abdul Sabhan, a speedster, and Muhammad Sayam, a left-arm bowler, lead the bowling department, with 11 and eight wickets, respectively.
The two sides clashed in the group stage, and India won.
Interestingly, Pakistan has won two ICC Under-19 World Cups but has yet to win the Asia Cup. However, Pakistan were joint champion with India in 2012.
