PTA and Commerce Ministry Signed MoU to Strengthen Digital Ecosystem

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) inked a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at PTA Headquarters to promote partnership in promoting Pakistan’s digital ecosystem and facilitating commerce via technical innovation.

The MoU defines major areas of collaboration, such as e-commerce, cybersecurity, and cloud computing, while focusing on knowledge exchange, capacity building, and creating a competitive environment for businesses and consumers. It also prioritizes cross-border commerce to improve corporate efficiency and competitiveness.
PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, HI (M), underlined the organization’s commitment to encouraging innovation and collaboration for a healthy digital society. Jawad Paul, Secretary of the MoC, emphasized the importance of PTA in promoting digital inclusivity and supporting e-commerce through strong digital infrastructure.

The agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony attended by senior officials from both organizations, including Ehsan Yar Khan, Director General (Strategy & Development) PTA, and Muhammad Ashraf, Executive Director General of MoC.

This collaboration is expected to improve Pakistan’s digital commerce environment, boosting economic resilience and propelling societal growth.
