National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq replied to criticism from PTI leaders on Wednesday, noting that his responsibility is to foster communication between the government and opposition, not to organize meetings with Imran Khan.
Ayaz Sadiq responded to the criticism by clarifying that scheduling Imran Khan’s meeting with party leaders is not his mandate or job.
The Speaker expressed regret in remarks condemning his administration for failing to react favorably to meeting requests. He stated that his doors are always open to everyone and that he has never refused to meet with any member of the Assembly.
Sadiq also reaffirmed his commitment to respecting Parliament’s authority and promoting communication between the administration and the opposition. He indicated that if the administration and opposition so choose, he is happy to organize for an emergency committee meeting.
The answer occurred as reports began to circulate that the political discussions were not progressing in the right way, with remarks from the leaders of both parties following the second session of talks. The delay in issuing permission for PTI representatives to visit Adiala prison to talk with their party leader added to the image.
Barrister Gohar Ali stated that the founder has requested for another sitting. “The talks will not move ahead if the visit not being allowed” , stated the politician.
“We are not engaged in talks for a deal, but for the sake of the nation and the country,” the PTI leader stated.
Barrister Gohar refuted Aleema Khan’s media claims of a house arrest offer to the PTI’s founder.
He stated that neither Mohsin Naqvi nor anybody else had discussed the party’s founder’s release. “We were also not consulted about moving the founder to another location,” Gohar Ali Khan added.
