The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has stated that the sluggish browsing issue caused by a failure in the international undersea cable has been fixed in record time.
“We are pleased to inform you that the slow browsing issue caused by the international submarine cable AAE-1 outage has been resolved in record time,” the telecom business stated in a statement Thursday.
It stated that staff worked frantically to restore services and that “we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this time”.
Last week, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said that the deterioration of internet services across the country had been remedied by incorporating a temporary bandwidth in the system.
According to the statement, ad hoc capacity was organized and provided to the system to solve the issue of Internet service deterioration caused by a breakdown in the AAE1 underwater cable on January 2, 2025.
“Now there is no degradation of Internet services across the country,” stated the PTA’s spokesperson.
The PTCL handles the AAE-1, as well as two more undersea internet cables, SMW-4 and IMEWE (India-Middle East-Western Europe).
Auxiliary connections from these cables reach Karachi. The landing sites for the SMW-4 and IMEWE are at Hawksbay Beach, while the AAE-1 landings at Clifton Beach.
Transworld Associates runs SMW-5 (South-East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe-5) and the regional cable TWA-1 from Karachi to the UAE and Oman, which connects internet traffic from Pakistan to international centers in the Gulf nations.
The Cyber Internet Services Ltd runs the ‘PEACE’ cable, which originates in China and ends in the Misri Shah neighborhood of DHA Karachi before entering the sea and heading to Europe.
