ISLAMABAD (Pasar News) – The National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has issued a warning to WhatsApp users about the potential of hacking and recommended prompt action to prevent unforeseen scenarios.
In a caution to WhatsApp users, the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) stated: “If you lose access to your account or suspect that someone else is using it, take immediate steps to re-register the account.”
While informing about quick procedures in case of hacking, the NCCIA stated, “Uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp, enter your phone number to log in, on which you will receive a 6-digit code via SMS, enter it immediately.”
“As soon as you enter the code, your WhatsApp account will be immediately disconnected from the hacker’s phone because WhatsApp can only be active on one phone at a time.
“Don’t be afraid to wait 7 days because if the hacker has turned on “two-step verification” and you don’t know the PIN, WhatsApp may ask you to wait 7 days,” the NCCIA added.
The warning continued: “In such a case, do not worry, by the time you have entered the SMS code, the hacker has logged out, during this waiting period no one can use your account or read the messages.”
